Maryland Man Sentenced To Prison For Sadistic Child Porn Crimes

When it comes to child porn, none of it is good. However, there are some types that are worse than others. An example would be images and videos involving sadism.

A Maryland man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for possessing and distributing more than 1,000 child porn images and videos. The 41-year-old man from Ijamsville was handed down the sentence on January 19. Once he serves his prison sentence, he faces a lifetime of supervised release. In addition, he has been ordered to pay $45,000 in restitution to his victims.

The investigation into the man’s actions began in January 2020. That was when the FBI received a tip about a group engaging in trading child porn images on a messaging app. The man was one of the people involved. He was trading sexually explicit images involving girls between the ages of 4 and 9 years old.

Seven months later, in August 2020, law enforcement officials executed a search warrant on the man’s home in Frederick County. Investigators seized multiple electronic devices, including a tablet and two phones. The phone contained as many as 300 images and videos showing minors, including prepubescent minors, being sexually abused. The images were also violent in nature, documenting sadistic and masochistic abuse.

The man admitted to using chat rooms to distribute and receive child porn. He would look at child porn once or twice a day for sexual pleasure. His sexual preference wad for children around 6-7 years old.

In total, the man was in possession of 597 photos and 887 videos of child porn. He also distributed 70 images and 100 videos of minors being sexually abused.

What is Sadism?

Sadism is the tendency to derive pleasure and sexual gratification from inflicting pain, suffering, or humiliation on others. It is usually performed as an enhancement to sexual intercourse. In the case of child porn, the children are not only being sexually abused but they are also being harmed in other ways to gratify the viewer. A sadist, then, is someone who gets sexual pleasure from inflicting pain on others.

Many couples engage in BDSM, which refers to various sexual behaviors that involve bondage, discipline, domination, submission, sadism, and masochism. While these activities do often involve the infliction of pain and suffering, they are done with consent. Child porn activities are never done with consent. Even if the child appears to enjoy the sexual activity, they cannot give consent in Maryland unless they are at least 16 years old.
