Maryland Man Arrested for Molestation, Attempted Rape

Sex crimes are taken seriously by law enforcement officials in Maryland and other states. This is especially true for those who engage in sex crimes against children, as a Maryland man know first hand. He faces a lifetime in prison for his actions.

The 54-year-old man from Wheaton was arrested after trying to rape a woman. He had also sexually abused two children, ages 6 and 9, for several years.

The most recent incident occurred on the evening of April 24 when police received a 911 call. They arrived at Shorefield Road in Wheaton and found a woman with marks on her neck. She explained to police that she had just lost her job and had nowhere to live, so she and her two children moved into the man’s home.

Before the attempted rape occurred, the man arrived home with beer. The man and woman shared the beer, with the man suddenly kissing the woman’s neck and grabbing her breasts. The woman told him no, but he replied, “I want it.” She said no, especially since the woman’s son and daughter were nearby, just a few feet away.

The man persisted. He shoved the victim onto an air mattress and proceeded to try to rip off her sweatpants. The woman bit the man’s hand and yelled “No!” The man then stated that the woman owed him sex since he provides for her and her children.

The woman’s young daughter tried to pull the man off the woman, but the man hit her in the chest and thighs. A roommate called the police. Emergency crews arrived and took the woman to Adventist HealthCare Shady Grove Medical Center to be treated for red marks on her chest and neck. The man denied trying to rape the woman.

The man had a pending arrest warrant for allegedly sexually abusing two children in Montgomery County. The man had placed his hand under the clothing of a 6-year-old girl. When she was 3, the man had also pinched her nipples.

Another victim was a boy, now 16, who was 9 at the time. The man would play a game in which he would touch the boy’s penis. The molestation occurred for several years. Authorities issued an arrest warrant in the child molestation case on February 21, but the warrant was never served.

The man, a native of Mexico, is facing multiple criminal charges, including attempted first-degree rape, first-degree assault and sex abuse of a minor. He is in police custody and being held without bond until a trial can be scheduled. He faces up to one life term in prison, as well as an additional 100 additional years.
