Man Sentenced To 25 Years In Prison For Attempted Rape

People should not be forced to have sex against their will. When a person tries to get someone to engage in sexual activity without their consent, it is called rape and it comes with harsh penalties. Even attempted rape is a serious crime.

A Maryland man knows this to be true after he was sentenced to 25 years in prison for attempting to rape a woman. The incident happened on September 8, 2020 when the 29-year-old man hired a woman to clean his house. When the woman arrived at the man’s home, located on Valley Hill Drive in Randallstown, the man told her he could not pay her.

The woman tried to leave, but the man sexually assaulted her and tried to rape her. She escaped and reported the attack to authorities.

The man recently faced sentencing for the sex crimes. Prosecutors took into consideration the man’s criminal history, which includes a robbery in 2012 and an assault from 2016. After the robbery, he was sentenced to nine months in jail. After being convicted of the assault, he spent 3.5 years in jail and was placed on probation.

Based on the man’s criminal history, the judge gave the man an enhanced sentence of 25 years. He will not be eligible for parole.
