Maryland Man Wanted For Rape Of Family Members

Murders and rapes are considered by law enforcement to be some of the most heinous crimes. When people commit these crimes, police want to prosecute them right away and bring them to justice.

The U.S. Marshals Service is on the hunt for a Baltimore man who is accused of raping a teenager, who is allegedly a family member. The 39-year-old man is facing first-degree rape and other charges.

The rape incident happened in March 2021, when the man forcibly raped the teen inside their home in southeast Baltimore. The man admitted to the crime when he was confronted by another relative.

However, the man fled before police could arrest him. According to the U.S. Marshals Service, the man was allegedly seen once on Dundalk Avenue in Baltimore.

The man is also wanted for allegedly raping his wife in a separate incident. The U.S. Marshals Service considers him to be a sexual predator, considering that the man is willing to rape his own family members. They’re afraid that he could rape any woman walking down the street.

It is believed that the man is making his way to Mexico to get away from police and avoid getting arrested. Those who have any information about the man’s whereabouts should contact police.

Is it Illegal to Rape Your Spouse?

Given that the man is facing sexual assault charges for raping his wife, this begs the question: Is it illegal to rape your spouse? Thirty years ago, the answer would have been no. In 1993, though, it became a crime to rape your spouse in all 50 states. However, 12 states have loopholes that allow it under certain circumstances. In 2017, Maryland closed a loophole. The law had required victims to prove there was force involved in the sex act.

Statistics show that as many as 14% of women are raped by their husbands. However, it’s important to know that men can be raped as well. It’s harder to find statistics for that, though, because many men are embarrassed to come forward. When they do, they are often shamed and considered to be lying.

Marital rape is not taken seriously because some lawmakers assume that a person who is married should always consent to sex, but this is not always the case. Marital rape can have serious consequences, including injuries to the vaginal and anal areas, sexually transmitted diseases, pregnancies, miscarriages, infections, anxiety, depression, post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), and eating and sleeping disorders. A person who is battered can also suffer physical effects such as black eyes, bloody noses, broken bones, and knife wounds.
