Prior to 2021, the Howard County circuit courthouse was located in the historic building at 8360 Court Avenue in Ellicott City. This courthouse was designed and built from 1840 to 1843 by Charles Timanus. Additions were made to the back of the building in the 1950s. Now that the old building has been vacated, plans for reuse have been discussed but not finalized.
