5-year sentence for man who carjacked woman in labor

It looks like a 25-year-old Glen Burnie man will spend the next five years in prison. A federal judge handed down the sentence after the man was convicted of the armed carjacking of a couple who were on their way to the hospital because he woman was in labor.

The incident happened in March of last year. The man and woman were getting into their car about 4:30 a.m. when the crime occurred. Several men approached the couple, at which time the male victim fled the scene and called police.

The woman was then forced at gunpoint to go with the robbers to a nearby apartment building. They wanted money from her. She told the men she didn’t have any money, and she didn’t have a key to the apartment. The only key she has was to the car. The robbers took the key and the car.

Annapolis police followed the stolen car. The defendant bailed out of the car, along with another man, 44, from Washington D.C. Both were arrested by police.

The 25-year-old man will also have three years of supervised release after serving his prison sentence. The other man was also convicted. He now faces a maximum of life in prison for using a firearm during a crime of violence, as well as more prison time for other charges.

When facing such serious charges as those listed above, an experienced criminal defense attorney is needed. He or she can provide guidance and advice when it comes to building a strategy for your defense against the charges against you.
