2 Killed, 2 Injured In Baltimore Assaults

Assaults and murders have become commonplace lately. Unfortunately, even young children are getting involved in these fatal accidents.

Baltimore was the location of several assault incidents on April 17. Unfortunately, some of these incidents led to fatality.

The day started when Western District police officers were called to the 300 block of N. Stricker Street after there were reports of a shooting. They arrived in Baltimore’s Sandtown-Winchester neighborhood and found a man suffering from gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. Homicide detectives are investigating the incident.

Later that morning, there was another incident. Northwest District police officers were called to a shooting that happened 2 miles away from the first incident. They arrived in the 3100 block of Tioga Parkway and found a 22-year-old man suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to an area hospital, where he is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

A third incident happened in the evening. Southwest District police officers responded to a report of an aggravated assault in the 1900 block of Braddish Avenue. They found an unresponsive man suffering from body trauma. He later died at the scene. The incident is under investigation.

Less than an hour later, police arrived at the 100 block of Irving Street, where they found another shooting victim. The man, who suffered a gunshot wound, awas taken to a local hospital for treatment.

In another incident, a child was injured when a bullet came through a window at a home. The bullet grazed the child’s arm. The 5-year-old was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Assault With a Weapon in Maryland

There are two main types of assault in Maryland: first-degree and second-degree. Second-degree is less serious and often involves verbal threats. If someone threatens to hit or kill you in a serious manner (not teasing or joking, for example), then they can be charged with second-degree assault, even if they do not physically touch you.
