Two Sentenced in Drugs, Weapons Case in Maryland

In January, Maryland State Police Gang Enforcement Unit were conducting an assignment and arrested two people for weapons and drug charges.

Police pulled over a Toyota RAV4 in January 2019, as the vehicle had violated various laws. Investigators spoke to the male driver and the female passenger and noticed multiple indicators of criminal activity. Troopers had probable cause to search the vehicle. Inside, they found several types of drugs, including heroin, cocaine, methamphetamine, marijuana and fentanyl.

Troopers served a search and seizure warrant on the man’s home. Inside, they found a Taurus semi-automatic pistol and ammunition. They also found more drugs, including heroin, marijuana, fentanyl, prescription drugs and psilocybin mushrooms.

Both the driver and passenger were arrested and taken to the North East Barrack. The driver, a 34-year-old man from Northeast Maryland, was convicted of drug possession with intent to distribute, as well as possession of a firearm with a felony conviction. He was sentenced to 20 years in prison for the drug charge and 15 years for the firearm charge. He will serve both sentences concurrently. The passenger, a 34-year-old woman from Colora, was convicted of drug possession and will serve five years in prison.

Maryland Drug Possession
