Two men involved in gun-based crime

When you are in a heated argument, you often aren’t aware that you may have crossed a line in the sand. The other person may begin to feel threatened enough to pull out a weapon, and suddenly you are stuck in the middle of a nightmare scenario. Something like this happened in Glen Burnie, Maryland, recently.

Two people were arguing, and a third called the authorities. One man had a handgun and pulled it out on Warwickshire Lane at around 1:37 in the afternoon.

Police said the witness stayed on the phone and provided them with ongoing information about the fracas. The witness directed cops to the exact location of the altercation. By the time police arrived, both combatants had vacated the area in their cars.

Authorities found one of the vehicles and stopped it. The driver said that he was involved. Police searched the car and found a .177 caliber pellet gun. The man was arrested and charged with assault, disorderly conduct and reckless endangerment.

Police also stopped the second vehicle, but the occupants did not cooperate and allow authorities to search the vehicle. No mention was made of any charges to anyone in the second car.

Do you see how much better it turned out for those in the second vehicle? The news media did not report any type of arrest because he disallowed a warrantless search. However, doing so doesn’t mean charges won’t be forthcoming at some later point if a police officer obtains a search warrant.

It is never a good idea to answer questions or allow the police to search your car. You may want to call an attorney to represent you and guide you through the questioning process and also the search of your vehicle.
