Men accused of Maryland robbery facing multiple charges

On Sept. 9, it was reported that two people who were accused of being involved in a robbery were charged with multiple offenses by Anne Arundel police. The report stated that the two men were also accused of posing as police officers during the incident. Additionally, it was stated that charges against a third person were pending.

According to authorities, four males were walking to a residence in order to attend a party on Aug. 23. They were allegedly stopped by two men who were posing as police officers. The accused individuals allegedly pulled a gun on the group before demanding that they hand over personal items. They allegedly stole wallets and cellphones before fleeing the area in a pickup truck.

Following an investigation conducted by the authorities, two of the men were identified as being involved in the incident. Authorities reportedly seized a replica handgun that was believed to have been used in the incident when they executed a search warrant. The two men, ages 26 and 34, were each charged with robbery, armed robbery, theft and assault, among other offenses. It was not stated if the third person would potentially be facing similar charges.

Those who are charged with theft and assault may be facing serious consequences if they are convicted, including a jail sentence, fines, a lengthy probation and the loss of their job. In cases where an accused person is identified following an incident, an attorney may be able to fight the charges by proving that their client was not involved in the alleged robbery or assault. Additionally, if there were issues with the investigation or if the attorney has evidence that their client’s rights were violated, they may be able to have the charges against their client dropped completely.
