Maryland man sentenced to 14 years for drug trafficking

Drug crimes can have very serious consequences. Fines and jail time are the most prevalent penalties for a conviction. For this reason, it is extremely important that you understand your rights if you are confronted with drug charges. In a recent story, a Maryland man faces a hefty sentence for his drug-related activities.

A local man has been sentenced to 14 years in prison for trafficking PCP and cocaine in Anne Arundel and Prince George’s County. According to reports, the man pleaded guilty in the United States District Court in Greenbelt.

Sources say that the man paid an undercover agent to purchase PCP four times between July 2010 and March 2011. The man also purchased bottles filled with a total of 42.5 grams of PCP from a co-conspirator.

Drug Enforcement Administration agents and local police departments executed 11 search warrants. In the process, they seized 283 ounces of liquid PCP, two handguns, 5.6 grams of cocaine and a Mercedes Benz.

The criminal justice system can be overwhelming and frightening. Even if you are guilty of a crime like the man in this story, there are varying degrees of charges and sentences. Also, many people manage to strike plea agreements in the process of confronting a charge.

Ultimately, it is important to recognize that you have constitutional rights. These rights should be protected and honored in your fight against any accusations. For this reason, if you are dealing with a drug-related allegation, it may be in your best interest to contact a lawyer. He or she may assist you as you navigate through the complexities of the law.
