Maryland man sentenced for involvement in cocaine ring

A Reisterstown resident was sentenced in federal court on July 28 in relation to his alleged involvement in a cocaine dealing operation. The 38-year-old man entered a plea deal regarding counts of possession with intent to distribute and conspiring to distribute 280 grams or more of cocaine base and 5 kilograms or more of cocaine and to violating his supervised release. A Chief U.S. District Judge handed down a sentence of 14 years imprisonment to be followed by five years of supervised release; the judge also ordered the man to forfeit $14,706 in alleged drug proceeds and his SUV.

According to the plea agreement in the case, the defendant had been involved in a cocaine distribution operation. The defendant would allegedly receive cocaine from one conspirator and store the drugs in his apartment until he could arrange for their delivery to other conspirators in St. Mary’s County. He allegedly met with the other conspirators on a weekly basis to receive payment for the drugs.

Law enforcement obtained a search warrant for the man’s home and executed the warrant on April 25, 2013. Law enforcement officials seized 29 grams of cocaine, which the man was allegedly trying to flush down the toilet, along with drug paraphernalia, multiple cell phones and $14,706 in alleged drug proceeds.
