Maryland man proves speeding cameras are ‘highway robbery’

Speeding cameras are a source of debate not only throughout the state of Maryland but throughout the country. More and more states and cities are using speeding cameras, supposedly to catch drivers violating traffic laws.

Recent reports of a Maryland business owner’s quest to redeem his name and the reputation of his company prove that maybe speeding cameras are not the dependable tools that they are touted as. In fact, the man has taken his doubts to the courts and supported his argument using impressive measures.

According to sources, the business owner challenged tickets issued due to cameras after drivers for his company were supposedly caught speeding various times. He succeeded in his challenges by convincing judges that there was reasonable doubt regarding the cameras’ credibility.

For his method of defense, the man took the pictures that the speeding cameras caught of the supposedly speeding vehicles and compared subsequent photos to the time at which they were snapped. The math of it all reportedly showed that the ticketed drivers actually had not been driving over the speed limit.

The business owner’s recent victories support critics’ suspicions that speeding cameras are merely a scam to get money out of Maryland drivers. Says the victor, “This whole thing … I can’t wrap my brain around it. They’re stealing from the public. It’s highway robbery.”
