Maryland man accused of robbing restaurant

It was announced on Oct. 16 that a Maryland man who was believed to have been involved in a September robbery was taken into custody and charged. A second man was also thought to have played a part.

The authorities alleged that two men approached the manager outside of the Eldersburg restaurant at 11 p.m. on Sept. 26. Both men were allegedly wearing ski masks, and one of them was carrying a handgun. Authorities claimed that the two men forced the manager to go back into the restaurant in order to open the safe. Both of the accused individuals then reportedly took cash and fled the area on foot. The man taken into custody was charged with multiple offenses including three counts of first-degree assault, three counts of armed robbery and two counts of theft.

A person may be charged with theft if he or she is accused of taking money or items belonging to someone else without consent. The severity of the charge and the associated consequences depend upon the amount that was taken. For example, someone who is accused of stealing property valued at less than $100 may face a 90-day jail sentence or a $500 fine while someone accused of stealing property valued at more than $100,000 may face both a $25,000 fine and up to 25 years in prison.

If someone is wrongly accused of theft, an attorney can potentially present evidence that this person was not involved with the incident. Otherwise, the accused person could poossibly receive a reduced sentence if his or her attorney can negotiate a deal.
