Man held on $1 million bond for alleged sex assaults

A 52-year-old man from Glen Burnie, Maryland, was recently arrested on several charges, including rape. While the man’s wife has reportedly told neighbors “woman are chasing after him,” the state’s attorney and the Anne Arundel County police have a different story to tell.

According to the state’s attorney, in the early morning hours, the man followed women who were vulnerable, raping one and assaulting another. One of the incidents occurred in July 2014, and according to police, the man offered a woman $40 for a sex act. When she allegedly refused, he reportedly raped her. The other incident occurred last month. According to court documents, the man offered $40 again for a sex act. When that woman reportedly refused, the man allegedly used force.

The evidence that carries the most weight for prosecutors is DNA, according to the assistant state’s attorney. The man may be charged with another sexual assault from June 2015; however, the two cases he is currently charged with do not include that one.

The assistant’s state attorney said that no bond was sought for the man; however, the judge set the bond amount at $1 million.
