Man arrested in Maryland for alleged auto theft

Following a carjacking incident in Hanover, a man was recently arrested. The Maryland police suspect that the man stole a woman’s car keys, pushed her into the vehicle and drove away in her vehicle once she got out of the car. The man faces charges of auto theft as well as other crimes.

At 12:30 p.m., a 55-year-old woman attempted to enter her vehicle, which was parked at the local Safeway. As she got into the car, a man supposedly approached her and demanded her car keys. The man allegedly took the keys from her, and he forced her back to the rear of the vehicle. The woman was able to get out of the vehicle through one of the rear doors.

After the woman got out of the car, the man purportedly drove her car away from the scene. A few days later, in Washington D.C., the police were able to locate the woman’s car. The police went to Suitland to arrest the possible suspect, but it is unclear why they believe that he was involved in the crime in the first place.

The Maryland man was apprehended without incident and charged with auto theft, assault and robbery. Exactly what led the police to suspect this man is unclear, and if the case does proceed to trial, sufficient evidence linking him to the carjacking will need to be presented. Moreover, it is clear that he will benefit by making sure that his legal rights are preserved as he tries to challenge his accusations and whatever evidence the prosecutors believe to have against him.
