Man accused of theft for alleged burglary of 2 homes in a day

A young man was recently arrested stemming from two incidents that occurred at two separate residences in Abingdon on the same day. The investigators suspect that the man burglarized both of the residences by breaking in, and he supposedly stole cash from one residence. The Maryland man must begin his criminal defense against the theft accusations for the alleged events of that day.

The police responded to the first call of a break in at around 3:30 a.m., after the homeowners’ dog woke the family up. The homeowners allegedly found the contents of the wife’s purse strewn all over the living room sofa, and cash was supposedly missing from her purse. While the responding officers were investigating the crime scene, they received another call about a burglary at a second home.

The second home had security cameras that supposedly captured the suspect on film entering the residence through the pet door. The homeowner also claimed that the suspect broke into the homeowner’s vehicle. However, unlike at the first house, no cash was reported missing from the second residence or from the vehicle.

The man was arrested the next day at his home, and he was charged with two counts of theft, two counts of burglary and other related charges. The charges that the man faces seem to suggest that he stole items from both homes, but the report does not indicate that anything was stolen, except possibly some cash from the first residence. Maryland prosecutors must now present hard evidence to prove that the man is in fact guilty of the charges filed against him. If they are unable to do so, then it is likely that some or all of his charges could be dropped or reduced due to lack of sufficient evidence.
