Former Ravens player arrested for driving with suspended license

Jermaine Lewis, a former Ravens player who helped his team clinch a Super Bowl victory over a decade ago, was arrested again in Baltimore County, this time for allegedly driving on a suspended license.

It’s not the first traffic charge for the football star, who was previously arrested for reckless driving and resisting arrest in August 2011. He is due in court on that charge in April. At the time, he had told news sources that he never resisted arrest. Officers used a Taser, claiming they needed to subdue him.

For the most recent arrest on last Thursday morning, he was forced to spend time in jail while being held on a $50,000 bond.

Police arrested him after pulling over his Dodge Charger in Reisterstown. The man had been driving with his 4-year-old son in the front seat. An officer who conducted the traffic stop apparently noted that the man’s license had been revoked and immediately placed him under arrest.

Lewis is charged with failure to secure a child by a safety belt, driving with a suspended license and driving with a revoked license, according to the Baltimore Sun. A police report says that the man was driving because he wanted to get food for his son and something to heat his home.
