Father and son face serious drug charges in Anne Arundel

Two individuals — a father and a son — were recently arrested. Anne Arundel County authorities are calling the arrest a “large-scale” drug bust in which thousands of dollars worth of cash, guns and drugs were seized. The two men face numerous serious drug charges stemming from these allegations.

In early April, Anne Arundel authorities apparently executed a search warrant at a house in Glen Burnie that was under suspicion of drug activity. It is not clear how long the authorities suspected the two of illegal activities, and it is also unclear what sparked this suspicion. Inside the house, as well as in a vehicle owned by the father, the investigators say they found approximately $300,000 worth of guns, drugs and cash.

The investigators purportedly seized 50 grams of marijuana, 12 grams of crack cocaine and over $172,000 in cash. They also allegedly seized 919 grams of heroin, 710 grams of crack cocaine and a loaded .22-caliber handgun. Numerous items described as drug paraphernalia were also found. Both men, ages 57 and 34, face 11 charges. The accusations include possession of drugs, possession of the various drugs with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm to be used for a drug trafficking crime.

Even though the Anne Arundel authorities claim to have significant amounts of evidence against the father and son, the burden of proof remains on the prosecution. The two men will benefit from gathering information on the specifics of their drug charges and arranging a careful and professional analysis of the evidence that the prosecution plans to use against them. Doing so will help them identify legal issues so that the criminal defense team can prepare appropriate challenges to evidence and work to ensure the legal rights of each defendant are fully honored throughout the proceedings.
