Drug gang arrests — Part Two

In our last post we mentioned that law enforcement is cracking down on drug crimes in Baltimore and that a mother and son in an alleged drug gang are facing charges of drug racketeering. In a separate and apparently unrelated series of drug arrests, 21 individuals have been arrested by a Hartford County task force.

According to news sources, the arrests came after individuals wearing wire taps infiltrated a group described as the gang “World’s Most Dangerous.” The so-called drug gang reportedly obtained drugs in Atlanta and transported the drugs to Baltimore City and from there, to the community of Edgewood. The 21 individuals who have been arrested are facing a variety of drug conspiracy and drug trafficking charges.

When there is a significant arrest such as this one, it is likely that some people were scooped up in the net and could be either unwilling participants or completely innocent. However, based on the drugs that were seized in the raid, it seems clear that several individuals were involved in illegal activities.

The task force seized $680,000 worth of heroin, cocaine and marijuana plus one handgun, two vehicles and $118,000 in cash. It remains to be seen which individuals can be tied directly to the drugs, cash, gun and cars.

Some of those arrested have previous criminal records and are facing between 10 and 25 years in prison without parole. It was not mentioned whether or not any of those involved in the gang were police informants or collaborated in some way to get a lesser charge, or no charge at all.

The consequences any individual may or may not face may depend upon the skill and experience of his or her criminal defense attorney.
