Don’t assume traffic violations are minor infractions

Traffic tickets aren’t always a pay-it-and-forget-it situation. In our previous blog post, we discussed how some traffic tickets can add points to your driver’s license and how some tickets require you to appear in court. In truth, you should learn about all of your options before deciding how to handle a traffic ticket.

If you have a traffic ticket that doesn’t require you to appear before the court, you have the option of paying for the ticket. Before you pay the ticket, you should find out if the traffic violation has points associated with it, as well as how those points will affect your driving privileges.

For example, if you have a Class A driver’s license and are stopped while driving a vehicle that is a type your license doesn’t allow you privileges for, you can pay a $290 fine. The catch there is that you will also have two points added to your license. If you were involved in an accident, that goes up to a $330 fine and three points on your license. We can help you learn about your options to deal with this type of ticket.

Another example would be if you attempt to drive or drive a Class A vehicle on a highway without having a Class A license. In that case, you face a $530 fine and eight points added to your record. As you can see, the penalty for driving without a license is rather expensive and means that you are subject to a driver’s license suspension because you have eight points on your record.

If you are facing a driver’s license suspension or revocation because of a traffic violation, we can help you explore your options for resolving the case.
