Day Care Raided in Child Porn Investigation

Of all places, you probably would not expect to find child porn in a day care facility. However, law enforcement officials probed a facility in Florida, netting one arrest.

Miami day care Little Seeds Academy Child Care and Learning Center was raided on the morning of July 30. One man was arrested during the raid of the facility, which is located at 10470 Bird Road. The raid, which was initiated by the Department of Homeland Security, was tied to a search warrant. In it, law enforcement sought electronic evidence such as laptops, cell phones and computers.

The son of the day care owner was arrested. He faces one count of child porn possession. He appeared in federal magistrate’s court the following day. Nine family members were there in court to support him. He went to a pre-trial detention hearing the following week and is expected to be arraigned on August 13. It is unknown if the man works at the day care or simply lives at the home.

It is unknown if any children from Little Seeds Academy were involved in the porngraphy. The daughter of the day care owner claims that the investigation has nothing to do with the day care itself and is strictly a personal matter involving computers. She also claims the allegations are not true. Parents, understandably, are concerned about the situation and are worried that their children were involved.

Nevertheless, Little Seeds Academy voluntarily shut down for the entire week. Miami-Dade police were involved in the probe. The case is under investigation by the Department of Children and Families.

Why Would Someone Want to View Child Porn?

As a parent or generally law-abiding citizen, you may wonder what drives a person to view child porn. As a society, we have a duty to protect children. How can an adult rape or torture a child, and then take photos and videos of the incidents to share them with others?

Less than 1% of child porn users are women, so it’s primarily men engaging in this behavior. While some are simply curious, many are heavily involved in this type of porn. Some users are always looking for new and exciting sexual stimuli. Others are attracted to prepubescent children. Some are interested in the financial side of things and may be interested in child porn solely for money.

In any case, viewing child porn is a crime. Those who use the internet may feel as though their activity will go undetected, but investigators can easily look up someone’s online search activity. People need to be wary of what they search online.
