Changing child custody orders requires a modification

Child custody and visitation orders are made in the best interests of the child. As children grow older or situations change, the best interests of the child might change. It is important that the court orders for child custody and visitation change when the best interests of the child change. The only way to do that is through a child custody modification.

We realize that going through the court process for child custody again isn’t something that most people want to go through. If you think about our topic in the previous blog post, you might realize that it changing orders is sometimes necessary.

If you were allowed virtual visitation with your child because you lived far away from the child but then moved closer, you might want to seek a modification so that you can start to have in-person visits if you move back closer to your child. If the hours or days you work change, you might need the visitation schedule changed.

Matters relating to child custody are very sensitive matters, especially if one parent is asking for custody or visitation be limited for the other parent. In those cases, we can listen to your concerns and determine what options you have. We understand that you only want to protect your child.

In order to petition the court for a child custody modification, your case has to meet certain requirements. We can help you to learn about those requirements so that a determination about filing for the modification can be made. You don’t have to fight for your child’s interests alone. We can help you with all your child custody and visitation matters.
