Celebrating The End Of A Marriage

In the past, nobody talked about divorce. Getting divorced was a stigma, something to be ashamed of. People stayed married so they wouldn’t be ostracized.

That’s no longer the case. Divorces are common, occurring in nearly half of all marriages. Many people feel a sense of relief after divorcing. In fact, some are even celebrating their divorces with yard signs and parties.

While we’ve had to postpone parties during the pandemic, yard signs for divorces have become popular. Yard signs were primarily used for birthdays, weddings, graduations, and other celebrations, With many couples divorcing during the pandemic, announcing their divorces via yard signs has brought smiles to many faces and even created viral videos. After dealing with the coronavirus pandemic for the past year, we could all use a little laughter to lighten things up.

Now that we have COVID under control, expect divorce parties in the coming months. These parties often come complete with cakes, DJs, caterers, and games. The divorced person’s friends and family come together to celebrate, almost as if it were a wedding.

It may seem weird to celebrate a divorce, which is historically known as a sad time in someone’s life. Even talking about divorce makes some people uncomfortable. It’s not uncommon for people to even avoid those who are going through a divorce. For many, celebrating a divorce is inappropriate and even cruel, especially to the ex-spouse. They think of it as attention-seeking and awkward, and it can be if the point of your party is to bash your ex. It should be about you and your desire to move on.

Despite what people feel is right or wrong, divorce parties are becoming a trend and it’s here to stay, at least for a while. We’ve been through a lot in the past year and we’re looking for a reason to celebrate. Look on social media and you’ll find people talking about divorce parties. There was even a movie a few years ago called “Divorce Party,” so celebrating divorce has become part of popular culture. In fact, it has already been a part of some cultures for years, particularly in Japan and Africa.

After all, people mourn in different ways and many see divorce as fun and freedom—a second chance to live their life. They’re not having parties out of spite or revenge. They want to celebrate the future. They want something to look forward to. Instead of sitting around and crying, they’re out having fun and living life to the fullest. These divorce parties are reinventing life after divorce.
