Bad Behaviors That Can Be Marriage Deal Breakers

Marriages are not easy. You won’t always be able to have it your way. Relationships require compromise, but we can only tolerate so much. Bad behavior from your partner can be a deal breaker.

When you think of bad behavior, you may think of abuse or infidelity. However, there are other behaviors that may not seem so bad but can still be hurtful. To have a strong marriage, you and your spouse need to treat each other well. Avoid these bad behaviors that can ruin a marriage.

Your Spouse Doesn’t Stand Up for You

Does your mother-in-law insult you but your spouse does nothing about it? Your spouse should not be siding with other people. You and your spouse should be supporting each other. You should be a priority to your spouse. If your spouse refuses to have your back, then it’s time to let them go.

Lack of Responsibility

Marriage is for adults, and adults should have some sense of responsibility. If your spouse doesn’t help with chores, work, or own up to their actions, they are being irresponsible. Let them be immature elsewhere.

No Appreciation

It can be frustrating when you’re working full-time and still taking care of the kids and household and your spouse still criticizes. Nobody is perfect, but if your spouse can’t take the time to tell you they appreciate your efforts, you’ll start to feel resentful quickly. We all want to be loved and appreciated.

Constant Lies

Lies cause mistrust in a marriage. If you’re always catching your spouse in lies, you’ll start to doubt them. You won’t believe a word they say, and this is not the sign of a happy marriage. A lack of trust can damage a relationship permanently.

Jealousy of Friends and Family

It may be understandable if your spouse was jealous of someone who you’ve developed romantic feelings for, but if your spouse is keeping you away from friends and family, something is wrong. Your partner should not feel insecure or threatened over the relationships you have with others. If they’re trying to isolate you from others, that could be a form of abuse.

Your Partner Abuses You

Speaking of abuse, if your partner ever abuses you physically or verbally, get out quick. A person who supposedly loves you should not act like that. If the abuse happens again, it could lead to serious injury or even death. Don’t let the abuse get that bad. Confide in a friend or family member and leave the home. Your safety is at risk.
