6 Men Arrested, Charged in Maryland Assault

Unfortunately, we are sometimes not even safe in our own homes. Other people can invade a home and commit assault and other serious crimes that can threaten the safety of those who inhabit the home.

Six men were involved in a home invasion in Maryland in April. During the incident, which occurred at an apartment complex in North East, a pregnant woman was assaulted. She required an emergency C-section. The man involved have all been arrested since then.

On April 25, the armed men held a man hostage inside the apartment and violently assaulted the woman. A 7-year-old child was in the home at the time.

Police investigated and uncovered nearly 80 pounds of marijuana worth $14,000. They also found a loaded .40 caliber handgun, electronics, packaging materials and clothing worn by the suspects. Police served numerous search warrants to the suspects.

A 36-year-old man was arrested on June 20. He was indicted by a Cecil County Grand Jury on more than 40 charges, including home invasion, armed robbery and assault. He was a convicted felon at the time of the home invasion.

A 48-year-old man was arrested on July 9. He was indicted by a Cecil County Grand Jury. A 24-year-old man was arrested on August 6. The man, a convicted felon, was also indicted by a Cecil County Grand Jury.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on September 5. He faces various charges, including home invasion, armed robbery, assault and weapons violations. He has been indicted by a Cecil County Grand Jury.

A 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old man were both arrested on September 10. They face various charges, including home invasion, armed robbery, assault and weapons violations. Both have been indicted by a Cecil County Grand Jury.

Many of these suspects are gang members. It is anticipated that there could be additional arrests in the future.

Types of Assault

There are two main types of assault. Second-degree assault is the most common and involves physical contact or threats of physical contact. Maryland law looks at the offensiveness of the conduct, and even a threat can result in criminal charges. The penalties include a $5,000 fine and 10 years in prison.

There is also first-degree assault, which is much more serious. This involves a threat or attempt to cause impairment, disfigurement or death. Making a threat while in possession of a gun or other weapon can result in first-degree assault charges, even if the weapon was not used. A person can face 25 years in prison.
