3 men arrested in separate incidents on gun charges

The Anne Arundel County Police were busy on Jan. 14. Three men from Glen Burnie, Maryland, were arrested in three separate incidents.

The first occurred around 4 p.m. That’s when detectives reportedly saw a 25-year-old man removing several items from the trunk of a car. The items appeared to be rifle cases. Upon contact with the man, the detectives learned that he was not allowed to possess firearms. Three firearms, an M&P .22 caliber rifle, a Savage .22 caliber rifle and a Hi Point 9mm rifle were confiscated, as were 110 ammunition rounds. The man was charged with three counts of illegally possessing a rifle and one count of illegally possessing ammunition. The man told police that he was headed to the shooting range.

About seven hours later, detectives stopped a vehicle and reportedly smelled marijuana in the vehicle. A 19-year-old in the vehicle allegedly had a .380 handgun that was loaded on his person and was wanted on an armed robbery warrant in Anne Arundel County. He is now charged with handgun in vehicle, handgun on person and illegally possessing a firearm and ammunition.

Just 30 minutes later, police responded to a call for service for a gunshot. When they arrived, police reportedly found a 38-year-old man with a loaded .380 handgun. He was arrested after a short struggle. Two bottles were found that allegedly contained PCP in trace amounts. The man is facing seven charges including reckless endangerment, handgun on person and possession of a firearm with a controlled dangerous substance.

While these may appear to be strong cases for the prosecution, there are defense strategies that may be used by an experienced attorney. The penalties for these and other related charges are severe, so having an attorney by your side can be very beneficial.
