2 Men Wanted for Assault at Maryland Restaurant

People are easily agitated nowadays and it’s important to be careful when interacting with others. Talking to someone can lead to harsh words that can quickly escalate to a physical altercation. This can lead to a fight that may even involve weapons such as guns and knives.

A recent assault in Salisbury caused a victim to suffer stab and slash wounds. The incident occurred on the morning of February 12 at Brew River, a restaurant located on W. Main Street. A 27-year-old man was talking to other patrons when he was punched in the face. The man fell to the ground and was then stabbed and slashed with a knife by another man. His friends took him to TidalHealth Peninsula Regional hospital for treatment. His injuries were not determined to be life-threatening.

Police determined that a 22-year-old man had punched the victim in the face. He is facing second-degree assault charges. A 24-year-old man had attacked the victim with a knife. He faces multiple criminal charges, including first- degree and second-degree assault and attempted second-degree murder. Both men are still at large. Police have issued arrest warrants for the men. A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the two men.

Examples of Assault

Assault can be confusing to understand, since even the words you say can be considered assault. For example, if you tell someone you are going to kill them, then you can be charged with assault, even if you do not physically touch them. However, the victim must fear that you are actually going to kill them. There must be a real fear of danger. If you say the words in a joking manner, with no harmful intent, then you cannot be charged with assault.

Threatening someone with a weapon is considered aggravated assault. However, the weapon in questions does not need to be a traditional one, such as a gun or a knife. It can be a stick, baseball bat, rock, steel rod or anything else that can be used to cause bodily harm to another person. If you are attempting to hit someone with an object and they are in fear that you may hurt or kill them, then you could face aggravated assault charges.

If you attempt battery, then you could be charged with assault. If you tried to hit someone, but missed, you could face charges. This is because you tried to hurt the person, even though you did not physically touch them.

Some types of assault, such as bar brawls, may not seem like serious crimes. However, when a weapon is used and a victim suffers serious injuries, the penalties can be stiff, resulting in fines and many years in prison.
