Prescription drug conviction have many penalties and consequences

When people get sick or hurt, they often turn to prescription drugs to help them get better. Doing this is a great option as long as you have a valid prescription for the drugs. When there is a valid prescription for these drugs, you risk facing criminal charges.

There are several types of prescription drug violations that can occur. If you give a person a prescription drug, you could face a criminal charge. If you have a prescription drug without a valid prescription, you could face a criminal charge. If you operate a vehicle while under the influence of a prescription drug, you can face criminal charges. If someone is injured or dies because of a prescription drug you gave them or sold them, you can face criminal charges up to murder charges.

All of these criminal charges come with a host of penalties if you are convicted of them. You can lose your driver's license in some cases. You might be incarcerated or have to pay fines. You can also lose some of the privileges you enjoy such as the right to have a firearm or the right to vote if you are convicted of a felony drug charge. You can also lose the right to state aid. You might not be able to join the military, work as a police officer, become a pilot or get a job in the medical field.

As you can see, the penalties and consequences for drug convictions are serious. With that in mind, it is vital that you learn about your options for presenting a defense so that you can make a decision about what to do.
