Maryland woman accused of fatal DUI, details unclear

Following a fatal hit-and-run accident, a woman has been arrested and is now facing criminal charges. Not only is she accused of hit-and-run, but the investigators also suspect that the woman was DUI at the time of the accident. However, the details of the investigation and eventual arrest of the Maryland woman are unclear.

The victim was apparently attempting to cross a local road in Towson close to 2 a.m. on a recent Sunday morning. The roadway was characterized as busy and dangerous for both drivers and pedestrians to navigate. The investigating officers were able to determine that the young man was killed by a hit-and-run accident, but there are several key elements of the accident that were not publicly released.

For example, the details of how the police were able to determine that the car that caused the accident was a 2013 Mazda 3 were not given. Additionally, it is unclear what evidence led investigators to the accused woman they have now accused of several crimes. Moreover, any supporting evidence regarding the driving under the influence charge was not detailed. It is also unknown whether the victim was using a crosswalk or if he was jaywalking.

In this particular case, there are numerous facts that could potentially work to the advantage of the woman's Maryland criminal defense. For example, many of the details are unsettled, including whether the victim was attempting to cross the roadway in a crosswalk and if a Breathalyzer or blood test was administered to support a DUI charge. The weather conditions that morning were also not specified. All of these facts will likely be taken into account as the defense prepares to defend the woman against the criminal charges.
