Criminal charges for man asked to leave Maryland tavern

Closing time at the local taverns -- this is a busy time for law enforcement as patrons empty out for the trip home after a long night of drinking and partying. One Maryland man, who was asked to leave a local tavern earlier in the evening, returned just before closing time. This time, according to a witness, he was brandishing a gun. The witness claims that the returning patron entered the parking lot and allegedly fired shots into the air -- he was arrested later and now faces criminal charges.

Police responded at about 1:45 a.m. on the fourth Monday of July. The tavern's manager told the police that he had asked the man to leave earlier because of his behavior. The witness also stated that several people were standing around the man when the shots were allegedly fired after he returned.

The man was seen leaving the tavern's parking lot in a gray Buick after firing the shots in the air. A deputy spotted a vehicle matching the description on Route 235 and a traffic stop was conducted. After the occupants exited the vehicle, a search revealed a handgun hidden under the seat. Marijuana was also found in the vehicle along with empty baggies.

Criminal charges were filed against the man who allegedly fired the shots in the air at the tavern's parking lot. The Maryland man's defense will need to focus on the specific details of the acts he was accused of and which will need to be carefully compared to what can be shown to be verified and proven facts. The defense will need to thoroughly review the witness statements and arrest documents in order to determine if there are any discrepancies or inaccuracies.
