Glen Burnie star athlete saved from assault and theft charges

High school is a rough time for most students. There are so many changes going on and around the corner in students' lives. For some, the pressure of it all, including school athletics, can lead to acting out. A criminal charge and conviction can be a severe threat to a promising teen's future.

An athletic champion from an area high school is in the fight for his future. The Baltimore Sun reports that he is a star wrestler and football player but is being denied his rights to play due to various criminal charges. Fortunately, charges from one case have reportedly been dropped, including assault and theft charges.

According to sources, the charges against the young athlete were dropped because the accuser was deemed unreliable. When investigating an alleged crime, officials depend on consistency in story in order to move forward with charges. In this case, the alleged victim gave various versions of the same incident and prosecutors didn't feel comfortable charging the suspect.

The assault suspect's defense attorney suggests that the supposed victim's inconsistent testimony supports the point he and his client have been arguing all along: the star athlete is innocent of the crimes.

Despite this legal victory, the young man is still fighting. He wants to get back to what he's good at, wrestling and football. But because he faces two other, unrelated assault charges, he is still prohibited from extracurricular activities.
